Decorating in Blues and Whites

Decorating in Classic blue and white is a timeless color palette, because it is not only a beautiful color combination but it also works well together. Bright blues like periwinkle blue all the way to the pale soft blues that are almost white can make a room pop. Decorating in Blues and Whites is one of my favorites to play with.

These deep rich blues can inspire great decorating ideas and this style of blue is very modern but yet comfortably inviting. The choice of blues you use will tip your room into a blue room with white accents or a white room with blue accents.

If you have an entry way that you want to accent, try white furniture then accent with a blue chair and rug. Then make sure to put things out that will compliment the decor you have chosen. If your furniture has silver accents, go with that, if black or gold, go with those.

But when you have a blank wall you are trying to fill, make sure the piece is a solid one. Chairs alone will not do. Like this beautiful black and Blue Buffet Table that is accented with a light blue rug and coordinating chairs.

Accenting in Pillows is the power of interior design. Just make sure it accents either the room colors or the Metal choices you have gone with. Adding a different color should be subtle, like the little vase with pink flowers or the Large White vase filled with lavender flowers on the coffee table.

When you want your bedroom to have that classic clean yet modern look you want to make sure you are using sharp pieces that accent your decor. Rule of thumb, keep the designs clean and colorful.

Your walls play a huge role in your decor choices. If your walls are white or a light color it leaves your options open way more than if your walls are black. Not saying you can't pull off the same Blue and white look with black walls, but this will determine what your guests will see when they walk in the room. Just remember, dark rooms make the room look smaller.

Now let's discuss the accents that go into the decor of the room. Furniture is the main thing we decide on, but the accents are what make or break the design. The art on the wall, the pillows on the chairs and couches, the rugs and even the vases and picture frames all have a part and all need to be discovered when someone walks into a room. The Octopus Framed artwork is one of my favorite pieces in all shown in these photos, it gives that room a classy elegant feel while still trying to give it a beachy look. With Jonathan Adler Designs, which is the designer, I have featured in this post, the variety of ways you can decorate has endless bounds! No matter what color I am trying to accent in a room, this designer never disappoints. I can find everything I need to make a room modern, classic, vintage or even shabby chic, depending on how I use the pieces. Make sure to check him out for all your designer needs too!

As usual, please leave any tips or tricks in the comment section below and if you have any amazing blue and white interior design ideas, please share those as well.
